Vitamins and hair growth:

Vitamins are essential for proper hair growth and they promote good hair health. Lets us see how various Vitamins promotes hair growth:

Biotin:

Biotin (or Vitamin H or Vitamin B7) is a water-soluble element of the vitamin B complex. Also known as the hair growth vitamin, biotin plays an important role in maintaining the health and beauty of hair, skin and nails. It is a vital nutrient which works as a co-enzyme for the various carboxylation reactions going within the body and assists in turning food into glucose.

Biotin is used to combat mild hair loss. It promotes healthy hair growth and prevents dryness and thinning of the hair. Studies done at the University of Maryland Medical Center suggests that biotin supplements can help in reducing thinning, drying and splitting of hair.

Biotin is taken in the form of daily supplement to replenish the deficiency. The US Food and Nutrition Board of the Institute Medicine has recommended daily Adequate Intake (AI) of 30 mcg of biotin for people above the age of 19. There are no adverse effects due to consumption.
