What is Vitamin D?
Vitamin D is necessary for the absorption of calcium for use in the bloodstream, preventing the body from losing calcium from bones for other uses.

- The main way the body gets Vitamin D is through exposure to sunlight. As a result, deficiencies are more common in winter or in areas where there is little sunlight.
- Other causes for deficiency include vegan diets, malabsorption conditions, liver disease, kidney disease, and alcoholism.
